About Me

Joanna Bagley

Painter Sculptor Ceramicist

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead. Louisa May Alcott

Hello my name's Joanna Bagley. I come from New Zealand (Aotearoa). Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you can visit this site again at a later date.

The inspiration for most of my artwork comes from dreams. As well as being a big dreamer, I am also a big fan of the natural world that surrounds us and in particular birdlife, as you can see.

The kingfisher (kotare in Maori) I believe is my guardian and a messenger to me. I feel very much connected with this bird and when I see him in nature, I feel like my life is on track.

My studies in art started in 1986, when I studied Graphic design. I graduated from A.I.T. with a diploma in Graphic design and then in 1996, I returned to art school again. After 4 years, I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specialising in ceramics. Between 2000 (when I graduated) and now I have exhibited in many group shows and have also had a few solo exhibitions, the latest being at 'The West Coast Art Gallery' in Piha.

My next exhibition is scheduled for mid 2014 which I will keep you posted on. I would love to see you at that opening.
