The messenger represents divine inspiration.
The angel depicted was lacking ideas for something to write and fell asleep. When he gave up trying, the ideas started to flow like divine inspiration. Often when we give up trying and making an effort, that's when the rewards come. Many great thinkers have been inspired by dreams after working on problems all day, with no success.
The messenger says "give up the fight and start trusting in the divine".
