Harpies can either be depicted as beautiful winged women or the opposite-ugly. They are known for having a violent nature and stealing things- 'harpy' means to snatch. In this case, this harpy woman is portrayed as beautiful and buxom, carrying herself with pride. She has the air of nobility and the power that goes with it.

She is handbuilt with slips and glazes and is fired in an electric kiln. She is completely hollow inside allowing her to act as a vessel for flowers.
